Hi! My name is Mimi Olayeye, and I’m a first year student at Emory University. During my senior year of high school I read The Walking Dead comics in my english class. I had never read a comic before and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. However, to my surprise I really enjoyed the books. I learned that there is so much more to comics than just picture and simple dialogue. I began to realize that images and symbols are able to portray a part of a story that words alone simply can’t describe. For my first year writing requirement at Emory I decided to take a Visual Think and Writing english class so I could further expand my knowledge of visual literature.
